You guys, all of our 2019 weddings were a highlight of our RVA wedding photography season. Seriously, they were all that good. Whether you’re one of our past couples who just said Heck Yes! and still need to book your engagement session with us, or you’re just following along for the love, THANK YOU. We couldn’t do any of this without all of the Insta love that we get from y’all and from following along here and on Facebook. If this wedding season is any indicator of what’s to come, 2020 weddings are going to rock. Get ready for a ton of photos in this blog post; we couldn’t help ourselves!
This one was technically on the last day in December, 2018, but it was the best start to our 2019 weddings season. Each part of this wedding day took place at epic Richmond venues. Oh, and did we mention that Megan and Matthew really know how to throw a party? Scroll for the photos, friends.

These two are so sweet! We had a ton of fun here taking some really classic, yet full on romantic engagement photos. With all of the iconic Richmond type views, Libby Hill Park in Church Hill is one of our favorite spots. Not to mention, the fountain and cobblestone streets here are really cool.

Kaylynn and Matthew’s wedding at a Charlottesville Bed and Breakfast in late September was one wedding story (scroll for the picture!) that we were excited to be a part of. Full of eclectic, fall vibes, there were some really cute moments here.

Christine and Dallas’s engagement photos at Dover Hall Estate are romantic, elegant, and totally classic. We took pictures indoors in the bridal suite, ballroom, and library, as well as outdoors on the balcony and in the courtyard. Our Richmond groom’s blazer may have given away the proposal, but it really looked really sharp in this photo session. We cannot wait to come back here soon as their wedding photographer. Yay!

You guys, it was raining on their big day. YET, these two brought the sunshine and blue skies with them. Thankfully, Historic Mankin Mansion Private Wedding and Event Estate came prepared with an indoor option so that their Richmond wedding show could go on. And our cute Richmond couple did not stop smiling and laughing the entire time, despite all of the rain outside. Scroll on for a ton of grey tones and neutrals combined with light blue and pink accents. Oh, and their wedding favor was THE BEST IDEA EVER: a yummy, local treat from a small business right here in Richmond.

We met our couple at the Richmond Weddings Show at Mainstreet Station and instantly connected. Tayler and Cody have known each other for years and are having their wedding in March at Virginia Crossings in Glen Allen. Our Richmond bride told us that their proposal was perfect, because it was just the two of them sharing that special moment. Moreover, their engagement session at Brown’s Island felt the same way.

Grace and Reid’s wedding at The Branch Museum of Architecture and Design took place in April and had a pastel color theme. Located in the Fan District, their Richmond venue is really classic and really elegant. The entire day blew us away. It’s hard not to smile at every single moment from this one!

Ever since we took these photos and had that amazing experience as their Richmond engagement photographer, we can’t stop gushing over Kit’s pink engagement ring. It’s literally one of the most gorgeous rings that we’ve seen. Ok, maybe they’re all incredible. But you guys, there’s something about veering off the path of traditional diamond rings and getting something that’s uniquely you. So, colorful and gorgeous ring plus this fall engagement session in October, Libby Hill Park, and these two equals magic.

Talk about a power couple. If you’re ever looking for one, we’ve got a few. Moreover, Anna and Matt are definitely one of them. Our Richmond bride and groom spent their engagement away from each other, as he was stationed in the military in Hawaii while she earned her PhD up north. Needless to say, their wedding day had us tearing up and laughing, all at the same time.

Our RVA couple’s perfect day was at The Boathouse at Sunday Park in Midlothian, Virginia. The forecast was rain, but there was nothing but blue skies, I do’s, and sailboats floating on the Swift Creek Reservoir. With their adorable ring bearers and flower girls with huge bows laughing and cutting up, this one was simply magic. Or, perhaps that’s just all of the Disney inspired details that our bride snuck in throughout their fairytale wedding theme. Happily ever after with a side of fried chicken and waffles? Don’t mind if we do.

You’ve already seen Kit and Chris’s fall engagement photos at Libby Hill Park right here in Richmond, Virginia. If those blew you away, prepare to be stunned by their wedding. Even though these two actually live in Colorado, they had their wedding at the American Civil War Museum at Historic Tredegar Ironworks, because our groom is such a history buff. Everything at this one was perfectly executed. From the pastel blue and yellow striped bowties for the groomsmen to the florals full of Black Eyed Susans, there was so much to swoon over in this one. And, we haven’t even mentioned our bride’s gorgeous Lillian West dress, nor all of the amazing details that the vendor dream team created. Tredegar, you killed it. Here are a few of our picks from our 2019 weddings:

It may be hard to tell from the photos, because Rita and Irvin are amazing. But, y’all this engagement photo session was H-O-T. An awful scorcher of a day. The heatwave wasn’t just in Midlothian, it was in Richmond as well. Even as in love as our RVA couple is, I have no idea how they got through this with such poise. Perhaps it was all of the jokes that they were making and that fact that Independence Golf Club is a stunning venue, but magic happened.

From our bride’s dad wearing that epic sequin blazer at their father daughter dance to the wedding dress, there were so many sparkles in this September wedding. Even the bridal bouquet (YES), wedding cake, and favors sparkled. Our groom, Andrew, wore his family’s Scottish kilt. There were bagpipes playing during the indoor ceremony. And to top it off, it all happened at Dover Hall Estate in Manakin Sabot RVA.

This engagement session at the Church Hill neighborhood in Richmond VA took place a few days before our couple’s wedding at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts VMFA. You’d think they’d be stressed, but this day was all joy and smiles. Anna and Matt had spent most of their engagement away from each other, so they were just happy to be together. And y’all, talk about a chill couple. They give a whole new meaning to relationship goals.

This was our first time here, and we cannot wait to go back. Stacie and Austin’s romantic Stonehenge Golf wedding in the summer was carefree, romance, and so much sweetness. Their ceremony was outdoors and had a soft purple hues paired with crisp blue. As their RVA venue was a golf and country club, we had access to a golf cart and took full liberty. Check out the last photo here for an example.
This day was perfect. Read all about it here: Romantic Stonehenge Golf and Country Club Wedding in Midlothian
Riverfront engagement session along the James in May? Yes, please. Lauren and Padraic love Canal Walk Richmond, so we had to include it in their photos. We had never been before, but fell in love with it as soon as we saw it. The murals and urban setting combined with rippling waterfront views made for an adventure filled time. We had a ton of fun exploring our town with these two.

We mentioned Jimmy Choos, right? Y’all, our Richmond couple should write a book on wedding day details. Nothing was missed. A vocalist and harpist played throughout the ceremony. The florals were untamed and gorgeous. Oh, and their wedding venue was the same one as their Midlothian Virginia engagement session: The Estate at Independence Golf Club. We arrived to Rita joking with her mom, and our groom just kept turning heads with how happy he was. This RVA wedding day was perfect. 2019 weddings for the win.

Stacie and Austin’s Summer engagement session happened right here in Richmond. With a few outfit and location changes, we were able to capture some fun photos at Rocketts Landing with the James River as a backdrop. Of course, we couldn’t leave the romance out. So romantic engagement photos at Libby Hill Park it was. It was hard to choose just a few images for this one.

As RVA wedding photographers, we get to see so many stunning wedding venues in and around this area. Southeast of Richmond is the Virginia Historic Triangle. Megan and Zach’s wedding day was here at Kingsmill Resort at Turtle Cove, located in Williamsburg, Virginia. The waterfront views of the James River as our couple said their vows were rad, to say the least. This was an incredible start to their lives together as a married couple, and we were so honored to capture all of it.

Genevieve found this really cute park in Midlothian RVA that we had never been to before. Always being up for a challenge, Dave and I ventured out to Mid-lothian Mines Park. And you guys, this place is so cool. Since their engagement session was in the spring, our RVA couple wanted their photos to be full of springtime vibes. So, we found this flowering tree and took full advantage. Aren’t they cute?

Talk about a dream! The ceremony for this one was outdoors in the garden at the Virginia Museum of History, Virginia House. That was followed by an indoor reception in the ballroom of The Jefferson Hotel Richmond. Our first wedding as an RVA wedding photographer was here many many years ago, so it was nice to be able to visit it again.

You guys, we are obsessed with this one. Madison and Austin will have their wedding at Seven Springs Farm in May, but they were up for a cotton field adventure. So, a trip to Upper Shirley it was. They had a few outfit changes, but the entire field full of cottony, prickly goodness had more than enough options to get some great photos. Oh, and the upside to having their engagement photos here was that it was right next to Upper Shirley Vineyards. I know we’ve said it before of our other 2019 weddings and engagement sessions, but it was seriously hard to narrow it down to just a few here.

These two practically work together, but haven’t actually worked on the same project ever. Also, this session was FAHREEZING. We all had red noses and frozen fingers, and somehow our sweet couple was still able to keep it cozy. Don’t get me wrong, though. We snuck inside for photos and to thaw out. Despite the cold temps, these photos turned out amazing. Kelsey and Andrew, we can’t wait for your wedding at Dover Hall.
