Anna and Matt’s wedding at the VMFA was so stunning, so of course we expected their colorful Church Hill engagement photos to be equally glamorous. And y’all, both RVA and our Richmond VA couple did not disappoint. Also, can we talk about how beautiful our bride looks in her bright pink lace dress? Girl, thanks for bringing a fun twist to these spring engagement pictures in May. You made these photos look good.
As an RVA wedding photographer, we are in love with Libby Hill Park. Located in the Church Hill neighborhood, it is known as the place to go to get all of those iconic Richmond skyline views. Meaning, you’ll find Shockoe Bottom, Main Street, and the Lucky Strike building all rolled into one picturesque backdrop here. So, certainly we had to include it in our RVA couple’s engagement session.
Scrolling through their colorful Church Hill engagement photos, you’ll find a variety of backdrops. With Anna and Matt’s adorable furbaby in tow, we were able to cover a lot of ground in their session. For example, the one below with that romantic waterfront background of the James River. Kiss away, guys. We don’t blame you!
Matt, our groom, is stationed in the military in Hawaii. And our bride, Anna, just became “Dr” Anna ,and now lives out of state. As a result, our couple had both a long distance engagement and a destination wedding. Matt came into town right before his wedding. So, we had to get creative with scheduling. You guys, this engagement session literally happened just two days before our couple’s wedding. With that tight of a timeline, you’d think these two would be all stress and nerves. However, that wasn’t the case at all!
There was such a sweet feeling getting to witness our Richmond couple being reunited after being away from each other for so long. Their joy mixed with the excitement of their wedding happening so soon. And in turn, their Church Hill engagement photos were filled with so many giddy – ness and joy – full moments.
Also, the white picket fences and brick homes along East Franklin Street were just too pretty to pass up. Those little peeks of blue hydrangeas in the top left of the frame matched Daisy’s bandanna. Somehow, she knew to turn her head at the right moment and strike a pose.
We had the chance to meet one of Anna’s bridesmaids during the portrait session. She did an amazing job with their really sweet – but so energetic – pup. And, having her there really helped us to capture all of these cute Church Hill engagement photos. So, if you are engaged and all wrapped up in wedding planning for your big day, don’t forget to thank your squad. As an RVA wedding and engagement photographer, we have seen time and again all of the little ways that they help to make wedding day magic happen.
