Elegant Historic Mankin Mansion Wedding in the Spring: Miranda + Daniel

This elegant and Historic Mankin Mansion wedding in the spring was one for the books. We had the amazing opportunity to work with some vendor-friends for this one and be Richmond wedding photographers for an incredible couple. It was a win-win all around.

Ok, now let’s talk a bit about their wedding details. You will find: a nearly neutral wedding color palette with light gray, soft pink, and creamy white. Their wedding venue is the Historic Mankin Mansion Wedding Resort Bed and Breakfast. This RVA wedding venue is located just minutes outside of Richmond in Powhatan, Virginia. Ceremony and reception sites were both held at the same place, which made transitioning from one to another a breeze. We also loved that the getting ready locations for both the bride and groom were both onsite as well. And, to top it all off, their wedding planner doubled as their florist! Isn’t that just the coolest?

How They Met

This RVA couple literally met in middle school. They became friends in high school. And, they started dating at that point. Miranda told us that her hubby liked her first, but that it did not take too long for her to quickly start liking him right back. Aw!

Their Proposal

Our Richmond bride is in pharmacy school at VCU and her groom is at Virginia Tech. Over a long weekend, he suggested hiking up to Tinker Cliffs; a trail right off of the Appalachian Trail in Amsterdam, Virginia. Miranda told us that the hike just seemed to be really long and she was not really motivated. So, there may have been a touch of complaining on the way up.

At the top, Daniel asked his future wife to turn around so that he could take her photo. For some reason, he was taking a bit long to do it, and our bride actually considered that he may be proposing. Surely, now was not the place nor the time. But, yes friends, it was. At the same time that she thought he planned to pop the question, he did it. Friends came from out of hiding and took photos. Then, they all hiked back down the mountain and celebrated with the rest of their friends.

This was the perfect spot for our RVA couple’s first look photos. Before we get to their reactions, take at look at the bride’s Paloma Blanca wedding dress from Urbanset Bride. Isn’t it gorgeous?

It was nearly time for their wedding ceremony, but the heavy rain suddenly stopped and the sun came out so of course we paused for some portraits of Daniel and Miranda! These two were such a dream to photograph!

This one! Give us all the heart eyes and nose kisses, and we are two happy Richmond wedding photographers.

Cameo moment from Richmond’s King of Pops. Blueberry lemonade and chocolate sea salt? We will take one of each, please. These sweet treats served as a little boost of energy and were also our Richmond couple’s wedding favors (we really want to say FLAVORS!) for their guests.
