Genevieve and Trey’s fairytale wedding at The Boathouse at Sunday Park in Richmond VA was literally out of a storybook. For instance, the scrolling gold letter design in their invites and magical pumpkin carriage reception decor reminded us of Cinderella’s ride to the ball. Also, their light pink and baby blue wedding colors reminded us of all of the Disney princesses. Not to mention, our Richmond bride looked very much like a princess herself walking down the aisle in her flowy wedding dress with sparkly Badgley Mischka peep toe shoes. It all looked so pretty against the waterfront views of Swift Creek Reservoir in The Boathouse’s ceremony garden. As a Richmond Wedding Photographer, this day could not have gotten any better.
Our Richmond bride was a pro. She had an extra copy of her wedding invitation suite (which includes: the RSVP, the invites, and wedding details card), her bridal jewelry, perfume, bouquet, wedding dress with pretty hanger, and shoes all together. Having all of these bridal details all set and ready to go made our job as their RVA wedding photographer a breeze. As soon as we arrived at the wedding venue, we were able to quickly capture all of getting ready photos. If your wedding day schedule is tight or you just want a few extra moments to celebrate with your crew before walking down the aisle, doing this will help you ace your wedding day schedule.
You guys, Genevieve and Trey are the literal sweetest. This RVA bride is a nurse. Not only that, but when she found out our sweet foster daughter was in the PICU, she made it a point to ask us about her ON HER WEDDING DAY. She made sure to tell us that they would be keeping her in their prayers. Can you even?
RVA florist, Vogue Flowers made some of the prettiest, fluffiest, light pink floral arrangements that made the perfect backdrop for some fairy tale inspired detail photos. For example, this one with Genevieve’s light blue and lace garter.
About their blue and pink wedding colors… Right off the bat, there was zero question that our Virginia couple’s wedding was inspired by Disney. The light blue bridesmaid dresses looked like the same color as Cinderella’s dress at the ball. And, the light pink looked like Aurora’s ballgown dress. Or, was it Ariel?
Y’all, we can’t even with our RVA groom and his light pink bowtie that matched our bride’s bouquet. His groomsmen’s light blue bowties were the perfect match with their navy blue suspenders and grey suit pants. There’s something about a pastel wedding color theme that just makes us swoon every time.
Now, let’s talk about the weather and these formal portrait and wedding ceremony photos coming up. All week, we prepared for rain and thunderstorms for our Richmond couple’s wedding day. I reassured our bride that we would work our magic rain or shine. But then, the night before their wedding, the forecast suddenly changed. As a result, we had the most perfect bright sunny day that made for the best RVA summer wedding photos. Even the sailboats were out at Swift Creek Reservoir! Basically, if it’s supposed to rain on your wedding day, it is still possible to have beautiful wedding photos. And, if the weather somehow magically changes into sunshine, it may just make some of the prettiest wedding photos – like on Genevieve and Trey’s big day.
We are still talking about the adorable bows that the flower girls wore walking down the aisle. They are so cute!
The “Happily Ever After” wedding sign and wedding cake topper in sparkly gold was just the perfect touch to Genevieve and Trey’s fairytale wedding at The Boathouse Weddings. Genevieve planned and executed every detail to perfection. Their RVA wedding venue looked so pretty with all of the light pink decorations.
Also, can we just talk about the chicken and waffles and the shrimp and grits they chose for their brunch inspired wedding catering menu? You guys, The Boathouse food does not disappoint. We love working here so much that we included it in the list of our favorite RVA wedding venues here on our blog.
Genevieve and Trey, we had the most magical time being your Richmond Wedding Photographer. We pray that your fairytale wedding at The Boathouse at Sunday Park is only the start of the best years of your life together. Also, thanks for having a bubble exit at the end of your wedding reception and a brunch inspired menu. They’re definitely two of our favorite wedding day additions. Oh, and the Rolls Royce transportation was straight out of a storybook. Like, can we ride with you the next time? Congratulations on your marriage!
