This Charming Summer Wedding at the American Civil War Museum with Kit and Chris was basically all that our summer dreams are made of. Like, Black Eyed Susan florals and elegant white and light grey bridesmaid dresses. Indigo blue groomsmen attire with pale blue and yellow striped bow ties. Clean sweeps of tulle paired with old gray doors at Tredegar Ironworks to create pretty, yet simple ceremony decor. Literally, this venue is one of our favorite places in Richmond. Oh, and did we mention their banquet style reception? The long table settings create space for some of the best conversations between friends and family. Little twinkly bistro lights added to the summery atmosphere. Literally, if we had the time to plan the perfect outdoor June soirée, this RVA wedding would be our inspiration.
Kit and Chris, we loved being your Richmond Wedding Photographer. Being there to photograph all of your charming summer wedding moments was simply the best. We hope you enjoy looking through these as much as we do!
So, did you know that Richmond VA can be a destination wedding venue location? If you or your fiancé loves history as much as our groom, it may actually be the perfect match for your I do’s.
We met our couple through their wedding planner, The Hive Wedding Collective. Remember Cait and Phil’s wedding at Seven Springs Farm? Yeah, they’re the magical brilliance behind that stunning day. Specifically, Heather led the show at Seven Springs and Noelle was the mastermind behind Kit and Chris’s Civil War Museum wedding here. Now you see why they’re one of our favorite wedding planners in the Richmond area.
Our Tredegar couple flew into Richmond VA from their Colorado home for a mid-October fall engagement session. Their historic Virginia wedding venue meant so much to them that we knew including it into their engagement photos was top priority. Fortunately, we were able to schedule it on a weekend when they had all their wedding meetings. As a result, their family was with them the entire time. So, we were lucky enough to get the chance to meet our bride and groom’s parents while photographing their Libby Hill engagement photos. It was extra special walking into their hotel room at The Jefferson on the morning of their wedding day. Because, not only did we already have the opportunity to have gotten to know our couple, but also their family.
Oh my goodness, isn’t their little flower girl so adorable in this one? Her little curls and flower girl outfit that matched our bridesmaids were just too cute to pass up capturing this moment. Also, props to our gorgeous RVA bride for picking the most perfect neutral wedding color palette that matched the getting ready venue so well! You guys, we have seen some of the prettiest wedding dresses from David’s Bridal to Kleinfeld. And, this one from Urban Set is so pretty. The scalloped hemlines of Kit’s Lillian West wedding gown were just the perfect touch.
Our bride’s one request for her Richmond wedding day flowers was to include Black Eyed Susans as a shout out to her Maryland roots. And y’all, Amanda Burnette Floral Designs delivered. Our totally cool Richmond bride greeted me at The Jefferson hotel that morning wearing old bay socks before she got ready. We were feeling the Maryland love and the Richmond love from the moment we got there!
Aren’t they gorgeous? We loved the light grey and white bridesmaid dresses from Revelry. They matched beautifully alongside the little pops of yellow in their wedding flower bouquets. Kit’s RVA wedding florist was Amanda Burnette of Amanda Burnette Floral Designs. She brought some killer vibes for this charming summer wedding! The untamed greenery and florals paired so well with our couple’s casual, yet elegant wedding day theme.
Speaking of gorgeous, our RVA groom and groomsmen’s attire from Meguin Tuxedos was also epically charming. Chris’s light yellow and white stripe bowtie and his guys’s light blue and white stripe bowties were the perfect accessory.
Oh, if walls could talk, we are more than positive that this historic brick facade at Tredegar Ironworks would have some great stories.
Oh my goodness, y’all. You will love the first look photos. These two are just so in love and joy-filled! Oh, and can we talk about Chris’s light yellow and white bowtie again? We love this light and bright wedding color scheme.
Isn’t our Richmond couple totally cute? Let’s get away for some formal portraits for a few minutes. This little brick arch just outside of the American Civil War Museum at Historic Tredegar was a great spot to begin. Next, we headed across the museum toward Brown’s Island to get some fresh, greenery backdrop and water views of the James River. The old railroad bridge in the background added the perfect industrial inspired edge that we needed to match Kit and Chris’s charming summer wedding theme. Besides the Belle Isle Suspension Bridge, the Potterfield Memorial Bridge is another way to walk from RVA over the James River. And, we’ll take any excuse to include it in engagement and wedding photos.
Also, their dog Koozie was a part of their first look. And, she made an appearance on their wedding favors (which were koozies! Hahah).
Ok, so before we get to the wedding ceremony, let’s sneak in some wedding party photos right outside of our couple’s American Civil War Museum wedding venue. Rough, jagged lines, tiny brushes of green, and the industrial type look of Tredegar was a great backdrop for the crisp, clean lines of this crew. Also, the little flower girls and ringbearer’s reactions here are just too much! We’d be lying if we said we weren’t all smiles behind the lens.
Kit and Chris’s entire summer wedding day felt so natural. From the couple to the wedding party and their guests, it was easy to sense how relaxed everyone was. Even their hotel room was full of laughter alongside all of those fancy dresses! Basically, we could not have asked for a more beautiful mild day in June. Noelle at The Hive Wedding Collective, Urban Set Bride, Tredegar Weddings, Amanda Burnette Floral Designs, Mosaic Catering & Events, Rudy Lopez, and Rent-e-quip really worked their magic for this one.
Cool colors and crisp lines created the base for Kit and Chris’s historic, yet industrial inspired Tredegar wedding with southern roots. Bright Black Eyed Susans popped throughout the fresh greenery and light blue and white florals. Pale grey and white striped table cloths accompanied elegant table settings. And, tobacco boxes accompanied simple floral arrangements as centerpieces. Oh, and pie took the place of wedding cake and somehow Mosaic Catering snuck in pimento cheese and fried green tomatoes. Did we mention how much in heaven we were?
You guys, we were totally wiping away tears at this next photo. Parent – child dances cause teary eyes every single time. This moment with Kit and her dad was so, so sweet.
