Megan and Zach’s Kingsmill Resort wedding was on the most perfect November day. Megan used to work as the pastry chef at Kingsmill Turtle Cove where the wedding was. She now works as a pastry chef for Facebook (like, as in Facebook feeds their employees fresh baked pastries every morning!). Megan and her crew are DIY queens, and they created most of their wedding decor. The light over the water during their outdoor ceremony that overlooked the James River and their portrait time was absolute perfection. I basically want to live here all the time, especially in the fall.
Similar to some of our other RVA couples, these two met online. Their first date happened on a rainy day in early November. At the time, our bride worked the night shift, so the only opportunity they had for a date was IHOP. Megan told us, “I went home that night knowing that this relationship was going to be something amazing.”
Goodness, our brides know how to pick out a gorgeous pair of shoes. Aren’t these beautiful?
At the end of a long day, they’re just doing normal end of the day type stuff when our groom leaves his future wife alone to “check the mail.” Then, he comes back into the room, and the big moment follows.
As wedding photographers for Central Virginia, Richmond, DC, and Annapolis, we’ve heard so many different things that our couples have done to make their surprise proposal happen. For example: hiking up to Granddad’s Bluff and even – stopping to tie a shoelace at home right before you head out to dinner. Each time we hear your story, it’s easy to see how all of the little details – like going back to where your first date happened – really matter to you. They matter to us too, and we’re so honored to be able to capture all of the memories, emotions, and little moments for all of our #sdcouples.
This two photos are a favorite! Megan, you made such a stunning bride!
Fun moments with the guys coming up!
Goodness, this view, y’all.
Happy couple right here 🙂
Isn’t their wedding party fun? They were all having a blast the entire time.
Outdoor ceremony at a Williamsburg VA resort plus a gorgeous view of the James River while our cute couple ties the knot? Absolutely. Their waterfront backdrop was so pretty.
Also, their wedding decor was a little bit rustic and a whole lot of DIY awesomeness. Scroll down for some of our favorites.
The Riverview Room at the Kingsmill Resort was the perfect spot for their indoor wedding reception. Their tiered cake had berries as well as flowers for decoration. Catering was delicious and their bubble exit was the best way to end the night. Also, popcorn wedding favors? We’ll take two, please. This wedding reception was full of so many sweet moments.
You guys, we’re tearing up from all of the sweetness from their first dance as a married couple. Aren’t they cute?
You did it, Megan and Zach! We were so honored to be your wedding photographers in Virginia’s Historic Triangle. Congratulations on your marriage!
