Certainly Belle Isle is glorious, but this Canal Walk engagement session was epic. With all of the warm, golden hour lighting and Richmondy goodness that surrounds the James River, this was such a cool photoshoot. Oh, and did I mention how sweet our couple is together? Between the street art, waterfront views, and Pipeline Overlook, this location was just begging for a light and bright photo session. I don’t know if I could find my way back there if I tried. But, it is one of my new favorites.
Lauren and Padraic met in freaking Spain during a study abroad program. Canal Walk holds a special place in their hearts and their relationship. So, we had to make sure we included it in their Richmond engagement photos. For their session, I met them near Casa del Barco at South 11th Street and East Byrd Street near Brown’s Island. Then, they showed me the coolest spot right below one of the bridges crossing over the James River. The lighting was perfect, and the water rippled in these sort of shimmery waves. Combine that with all of the cuteness overload from our couple, and this Riverfront Canal Walk engagement was heaven.
South 11th Street right next to Casa del Barco has a pedestrian bridge that crosses over to Canal Walk Murals, where the RVA Street Art Festival is held every year. The murals are painted on the James River Power Plant Building and Floodwall. And, they made for a fun twist to our couple’s Richmond engagement photo session.
Thanks for such a fun Canal Walk engagement session in Richmond, you two. We cannot wait to photograph your June wedding at Manor House at Kings Charter.
