Bobby and Kevin met and fell in love. Great story, right? But lets get to the good stuff. Their totally epic proposal. At Disney of all places. With fireworks! But I’m getting ahead of myself. For their two-year anniversary, Bobby and Kevin decided to take their second trip together to Disney. BUT! A few months before the big trip, Bobby found out about a private dinner that Disney only does for ONE couple each night: A four-course meal on a private terrace with… you guessed it! Fireworks!. Bobby inquired, and the only available date any time in the near-future was July 29, 2013 – the exact day of their two-year anniversary. So for several weeks leading up to the big trip, Bobby planned how to propose, and how to make sure Kevin didn’t suspect a thing. Bobby shopped for ringsand even tried to measure for Kevin’s ring size while he slept! HAH! Finally, the trip came. The day of the proposal came, and they ended up on a pier overlooking the Seven Seas Lagoon, just as the sun began to set. They sat there and talked for a while. Kevin eventually noticed the time, and suggested they head back to the Magic Kingdom, for what he thought were their dinner reservations at Cinderella Castle. That’s when Bobby broke the news that they weren’t going to Cinderella’s Castle; he had made other plans for them that evening. Kevin, reasonably so, was pretty bummed out, especially because Kevin had told so many people that they were going to the castle. So Bobby led the way to the hotel, with Kevin in tow-having no idea what was going on, where they were met by a butler. This man took them up to the private terrace, and served them drinks and dinner. After the main course, it was time for dessert. Kevin didn’t realize that it was just a few minutes before 9pm, when nearby Magic Kingdom fireworks would begin. Bobby walked Kevin to the other side of the terrace, and read him a letter. He lifted the lid off the dessert tray, where among pieces of chocolate were figurines of Buzz Lightyear and Aladdin (the two characters that a Disney quiz had indicted Bobby and Kevin were most similar to). Aladdin (Bobby’s character) was holding a ring out to Buzz (Kevin’s character). Bobby asked Kevin to marry him – and Kevin said yes immediately. Boom – the strike of 9pm: fireworks began! Yeah. I told you it was an awesome proposal story.. Their City Club of Washington DC wedding included lots of sweet moments that brought them back to that day.
