I’m not sure how we predicted such amazing weather for their Hollyfield Manor engagement session, yet magic happened for our Richmond couple. You’d never know it from these photos, but just a few days after this sunny photoshoot in November was another #sdcouples crazy cold engagement at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts VMFA. And before it was a long string of freezing cold days; somehow the timing was perfect.
We met Kaitlyn and Jonathan at a Richmond Weddings Show right here in Richmond, and we just clicked. It was one of those times when you just know that this moment was meant to be. After this fall engagement session, it’s hard to argue against destiny, because now I want our bride’s hair. Isn’t it gorgeous?
Our RVA couple was just the cutest during their Hollyfield Manor engagement. They chose some really pretty color palettes for their outfit ideas that fit right in with all of the venue backdrops and scenery. We loved their dark denim and ivory look in front of Hollyfield Farm Pond. Also, her blue dress looked epic against the red barn doors.
At Longwood University in Farmville VA through mutual friends. Soon, their relationship hit official status. And shortly after that: sparks. Our bride tells us, “Jonathan is seriously the most genuine, go with the flow, hardworking man I have ever met. He proved early on in our relationship that he was here for the long haul…”
They had dinner plans with friends one night. Everything was going as planned until their friends asked to stop by… and suggested carpooling. Only, instead of going straight to the restaurant, they wanted to check out something else. Kaitlyn told us that she knew something was up when her future fiancé asked their friends if they would take a photo of them. She said, “That’s when I knew something weird was going on! Jon hates pictures so much that he would never suggest to take one.”
At this point in the proposal story, we knew that Jon would propose literally right now. Except we were wrong; maybe. So, the guy who hates photos tells his friends that he wants another photo with a different angle. Then, his bride turns around to find him kneeling ready to pop the question. And THAT is how a surprise proposal is done!
Our couple says, “Instead of cake, we have a donut truck coming to do hot apple cider donuts, hot apple cider and coffee… We will have Virginia beer and wine, our donut truck is local, and we were thinking of having our tables named after some of our favorite Virginia spots that mean a lot to us (Farmville, Lorton, Virginia Beach, etc).”
Doesn’t that sound like the best wedding theme idea ever? Kaitlyn and Jonathan, we are so excited to be your Hollyfield Manor wedding photographer. SO FREAKING EXCITED.
Kaitlyn and Jonathan, we loved being your RVA engagement photographer and cannot wait for your Fall wedding here! Also, did we mention how pumped we are for it? No?
