Potential tongue twister of a headline? Perhaps. But y’all, when you combine a foresty outdoor wedding ceremony in the Catoctin Mountains with whimsy flower arrangements, fairytale wood and moss wedding decorations and a sprinkling of thistle and pinecones, there is just no other way to describe it. Our couple chose Mountain Memories at Thorpewood as their late October Maryland wedding venue. Their outdoor ceremony location had log seating in the middle of towering trees and changing fall leaves. The bridal party wore dark purple bridesmaids dresses, flower crowns, and green bridesmaid capes. The flower girl carried a moss covered basket. The bride had a long, deep purple bridal cape and the groom wore a custom made suit with purple satin lining. When the vows were said, we may have been happy crying along with our Thorpewood couple. It was such a meaning ceremony. Look for a rustic tree branch and floral ceremony backdrop and a moss covered stone bridge. This whimsical woodland fall wedding at Thorpewood was definitely one for the books. When Kristen first told me about it, she basically called it a Woodland Geek Chic wedding, and we love their theme so much!
You have already seen this Maryland couple’s cherry blossom engagement photo session in Richmond. Let’s take a look at their woodland fairy wedding at Thorpewood. Enjoy!
Kristen had a ceremony Allure Bridals wedding dress that she wore with the prettiest jeweled David’s Bridal wedding shoes and a reception wedding dress from David’s Bridal complete with classic glittery gold Toms.
Cinderella and a woodland fairytale wedding? Check. Kristen, you made such a pretty bride!
We love the idea of bridesmaid and bridal capes for all of those chilly fall and winter weddings. They are a perfect way to keep warm when the weather gets cooler. For more inspiration, check out Abbey and Jason’s winter wedding at the Mill at Fine Creek. Our Thorpewood groom, Christopher, wore a custom made grooms suit coat with purple lining and purple and charcoal tweed fabric.
This is our favorite part. Ok, so maybe we love every part of each wedding. But y’all, take a look at Kristen and Christopher’s first look moments. His look when he sees his gorgeous bride is the best!
Can we talk about fern garlands and moss covered letters for a second? These whimsical woodland wedding decorations are so pretty! Our dapper groom walking down the aisle towards spending forever with his stunning bride.
So sweet! I do’s, ring exchanges, THE KISS, and let’s get this party started! Soon to be, Mr. and Mrs. Simon. Yay!Ok, there is a hundred percent chance that we were crying right along with these two. Dave may have been sneaking me a tissue at this moment.Oh, but wait. Kristen and Christopher had a science-y unity ceremony complete with test tubes, very fashionable lab coats and goggles, and a CHEMICAL reaction. Weddings without a science-inspired unity ceremony will never be the same. Chemical romance, amiright? We know what you’re thinking. Give us the formal portraits! That veil, those horses in the background, and this crazy in love couple make this one, super romantic photo. If we ever write a book about romantic stuff like all of our Panera dates and diaper changes, this will be the cover.Dress changed and slipped into a comfy pair of gold shimmer Toms, Kristen and Christopher are ready to celebrate. Love this moment!
