There is no question that we love crafty brides (and grooms!). Did you see Lauren and Jeff’s wall-height backdrop made entirely out of paper cranes? Or their hanging wedding decorations made out of paper cranes? Their Washington DC church wedding venue was so stunning. When we heard about Abbey and Jason’s winter garden party inspired Mill at Fine Creek Wedding, we knew we were in for something special. Their Richmond VA winter wedding has cozy boho garden party written all over it in the coolest, most perfect way. For starters, Abbey handmade all of her wedding flowers from fabric…with some help from friends and her groom. As in, she didn’t just make her bridal bouquet, she made her bridesmaid’s bouquets. And the boutonnieres, floral table arrangements, and the flowers for the cake. Really cool, right? Their wedding colors were slate, plum, white, and evergreen. Abbey wore a creamy white Essense of Australia wedding dress from Tiffany’s Bridal. The groomsmen wore gray suits from The Black Tux. The bridesmaids wore shades of blue bridesmaid dresses from DCdress. Abbey’s dad looked like the coolest dad we’ve ever seen. They had an outdoor ceremony in December and no one froze. Lord of the Rings showed up. And, to top it all off, their winter wedding venue of choice was one of our favorite RVA wedding venues. All that to say, we were delighted to be their winter Richmond wedding photographer.
These lovebirds met through work. Jason fell in love with Abbey first and eventually won her over. She says, “There really isn’t one single moment for me when I fell in love with Jason, it was a slow build where with every new action, new day, and new date, I could tell that he was worth the risk.” Isn’t that beautiful? Let’s take a peek at their pretty winter garden party inspired Mill at Fine Creek wedding.
The Mill at Fine Creek wedding venue really has the prettiest bridal suite; perfect for all of those getting ready photos.
So stunning! We still cannot get over the fact that Abbey *made* her bridal bouquet. Aside from Magnolia’s appearance at Cait and Phil’s Seven Springs Farm wedding and live bluegrass music at the most charming Charlottesville wedding, fabric floral arrangements may top the chart of coolest wedding details in 2018.
Happy groom. Looking good there, guys!
Their first look. These two are just so excited.
Abbey and her squad know how to keep cozy during an outdoor wedding ceremony. A bridal cape for the stunning bride and a bridesmaid shawl for each of her girls.
“The Sound of the Shire” played as Abbey and Jason’s pre-ceremony music and it fit in perfectly with their ceremony site. These two weren’t our first couple to like Lord of the Rings; fingers crossed they won’t be the last. (We kinda like it too!)
Yay! Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Let’s go straight to the reception.
This moment during their first dance is the sweetest.
